Not Melio (bill pay). Mimelio personalizes Google Ads landing pages.
Personalize Google Ads landing pages by city
Mimelio is a Google Ads landing-page personalization tool. Drop `{city}` into a headline, subtitle or CTA and it is replaced with the city Google Ads sent on that click (`loc_interest` / `loc_physical`). It does not guess from IP. If Google does not pass a city, Mimelio uses the fallback city you set — the token never appears on the live page.
Why Google’s location params, not IP
Paid search already knows the location the user searched for and, separately, where they appear to be. Mimelio reads those ValueTrack parameters from the click URL. IP geolocation fails on VPNs, mobile networks, and remote workers. Google’s loc IDs are the same signals the campaign already targeted.
How to set it up
You write one experience for an intent, not one page per city.
- On Growth or Agency, write `{city}` in any experience field (or use Insert: {city}).
- Set a fallback city name on that experience (plain text, e.g. Paris — never the token).
- Let Mimelio add loc_interest and loc_physical to the tracking suffix (audited, then applied only with your approval), or add them to your account tracking template.
| You write | Visitor in Philadelphia sees |
|---|---|
| Top divorce attorneys in {city} | Top divorce attorneys in Philadelphia |
| Book a {city} consultation | Book a Philadelphia consultation |
| {city} families trust us. | Philadelphia families trust us. |
When the city is missing
Organic traffic, region-level targeting (“Pennsylvania” instead of a city), or a missing loc param all skip resolution. The fallback city is used. If you are on Starter, `{city}` is not available — upgrade to Growth (€159/mo billed annually) or remove the token. If a signal is missing entirely, visitors see the original page.
Precision
Resolution is city-level, with postal-code awareness in the US and France. Same campaign, same URL, different city on each click that carries a city-level loc id.
Questions
- Does Mimelio detect city from the visitor’s IP?
- No. It resolves Google Ads loc_interest and loc_physical criteria IDs from the click URL. That is the point versus most “geo personalization” tools.
- Can {city} leak into production?
- Not if a fallback city is set. Missing geo uses the fallback. On Starter the token is rejected on save. If the SDK cannot run, the original page is shown.
- Is city targeting on every plan?
- No. Keyword targeting is on Starter. {city} and the geo fallback are Growth and Agency only.
